Papers

Often the work we and those we work with do is crystallised in some kind of writing. Much of the time this is in academic papers, conference papers, chapters in books, contributions to professional journals and so on. Many of these publications are recorded elsewhere on this website.

Sometimes though, none of those outlets are quite the right vehicle for our purpose and in these cases we produce our own papers which we publish here under one of three headings:

  • Discussion Papers, as their name implies, are a vehicle for us to explore new ideas in public so that they can be critiqued, developed and refined by the community of D&T educators. Sometimes this process of peer review will lead to revised versions that we are happy to publish as Working Papers.
  • Position Papers, these will focus on how to approach teaching, learning and/or assessing in particular areas of the curriculum.
  • Reviews of books and other publications can become too long for a blog post and may also explore ideas that, as with discussion papers, we would like to  open up to the D&T education community for further scrutiny.
  • Working Papers allow us to capture more robustly thought through perspectives on D&T education, though here too we welcome critique from the community of D&T educators.
