Synthetic biology

Synthetic biology is the process of designing and creating novel arrangements of genes and implanting them in cells. In some cases all existing genes have been removed; in others the new genetic sequences are introduced into the DNA of existing cells. Synthetic biology is the process by which completely new life forms, i.e. life forms that have never previously existed, are created.
